Cornerstone for Nis ekspres business complex laid - Investment totals EUR 4 mil

Representatives of the traffic company, Nis ekspres, and the City of Nis have laid today a cornerstone at Camurlijski put on the outskirts of the city for the construction of a new company business complex totaling EUR 4 mil.

Construction deadline is one year and after new Nis ekspres complex is finished, it will move out from the existing location at Blagoja Parovica St. from the city center and thus one of the most attractive locations which occupies some six hectares, will be available further investments, it was rečeno je prilikom polaganja kamen temeljca.

General Manager of Nis ekspres, Zoran Jovanovic, and the Deputy Mayor of the City of Nis, Ljubivoje Slavkovic, laid the cornerstone.

The new business complex of the traffic company will occupy 37.000 m2 and will comprise an administration building, a service, a parking, a garage for buses.

Jovanovic said that the beginning of the complex construction is an important step of Nis ekspres which will create better working conditions and which will confirm the leading position of the company in the field of transport in Serbia and abroad.

Slavkovic said that it is still not known what would be built at the old Nis ekspres location in the city but that an investor will have full support of the city as well as that the management does not have prejudices even in the case it is Delta whose owner is Miroslav Miskovic and which is a member of consortium which privatized Nis ekspres.

According to previous announcements which have not been officially confirmed, at the old location, it is most likely business facilities will be built and they will be discussed additionally.

Niš-ekspres was set up in 1951 as a transportation company Nis and it was named in its current name in 1958 when Nis left without trams.

Nis-ekspres has been located at the old address since 1971 and the bus station next to the Nis fortress was built in 1977.

The company was privatized in 2008 by the Consortium comprising Delta Real Estate and the Bokić.

The sales price totaled EUR 3,2 billion with an investment clause of EUR 4,6 mil. Nis ekspres where 1700 people work, has 350 buses and they travel some 100.000 km on daily level or, as the company often mentions, their buses travel round the globe two and a half times a day.
