Oracle Cloud Regional Center Opens in State Data Center in Kragujevac
The prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated that it was a very important day for the city of Kragujevac, for Serbia’s entire IT industry, which, in the preceding two years, had become the driving engine of the development of our whole economy, as well as for the positioning of Serbia on the European map of tech-advanced countries.
– The decision of Oracle, one of the biggest IT companies in the world, to rent space on a commercial basis and store its data here in Serbia, here in Kragujevac, in the State Data Center, shows that we as a state, our institutions, our experts, with their knowledge and efforts, have managed to beat the most developed European economies in a very competitive and strict IT market – said the minister of information, Mihailo Jovanovic.
He pointed out that Serbia had once again proved its regional leadership in digital transformation and showed that it was a reliable and responsible partner for the existing foreign investments in IT and advanced technologies and all the future ones.
The host of the event was the vice president for cloud-based technologies and the regional manager for North and East Europe at Oracle, Kenneth Johansen.
Within the opening of the Oracle cloud-based regional center, the first commercial contract was signed between this corporation and Telekom Srbija, whereby the biggest local telecom company became the first user of the public Oracle cloud infrastructure.
