The first section of the Morava Corridor, from Pojate to Makresane, 16.8 kilometers long, which is also the first digital highway in Serbia, has opened for traffic. As RTS reports, the investment is worth around EUR 800 million, and the investor is the PE Corridors of Serbia. This highway, with a total length 112 kilometers, connects the Raska, Rasina and Moravica districts, that is, around half a million people in central Serbia. The completion of the works on the Morava Corridor is planned for 2025, and the works are carried out by the American-Turkish consortium of Bechtel and Enka.

This, as pointed out, is the first smart highway in our country, that is, the first digital highway. That means that the highway itself and its surroundings will be equipped with sensors and information about the situation on the road, potential crashes and other data, which ensures a high level of traffic safety.

The Morava Corridor is also the widest road in Serbia, with a width of 30 meters, and for its entire length, it will have a total of 11 interchanges, 71 bridges, 23 overpasses, 5 underpasses and 31 culverts. It will also have free internet stations.

According to the president of the municipality of Cicevac, Mirjana Krkic, this highway will mean a lot to both the resident and the economy of the municipality.

– The municipality of Cicevac is currently building the highway E75 and the fast railroad Stalac-Djunis, which is starting right at this moment. With this traffic route, the municipality will get a greater traffic of goods and people, and the municipalities of Cicevac and Varvarin are planning a joint construction of the industrial zone, which is also a big investment – Krkic pointed out in her statement for RTS.

As said, the industrial zone will spread on an area of 22 ha.

According to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the opening of the entire Morava Corridor is expected by the end of 2025.

– In September or October, we are opening the section of 11 kilometers to Kosevo, and by the end of 2024, the section Cacak-Adrani will be opened. Then we will open the remaining 56 kilometers by the end of 2025, whereby the widest digital highway in Serbia will be completed – Vucic pointed out.

As he said, on these 17 kilometers, 7 bridges, 3 overpasses, 6 culverts and 2 supporting walls have been done.

– People will feel the benefits both through new investments and the new industrial zone in Cicevac. This corridor will be used by all the people who go to the spa and Kopaonik – the president emphasized at the opening ceremony.

Also, as said, until the autumn, there will be no road toll on this section.
