VUCIC: Serbia interested in building an airport in Herzegovina
– We presented the idea today and talked about Serbia perhaps starting negotiations about the construction of an airport in Herzegovina. We'll see which model is to be used, perhaps a concession for 30-35 years – Vucic said.
The airport would be built between Trebinje, Bileca and Gacko, and Serbia would build the entire airport, infrastructure and manage the airport, Vucic said.
– There's no profit there, but it is of immense strategic importance for Serbia and Republika Srpska – Vucic said.
He said that it was important for airport networks to be built and “to include Herzegovina in that network”.
Vucic said that Serbia had additionally obliged to help RS with the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo and the Belgrade-Banjaluka highways.
– In addition to the construction of a bridge on the Sava near Raca, we will provide considerable support in building those 17.1 kilometers to Bijeljina. The value is 140 to 150 million euros. We are ready to contribute EUR 100 million – Vucic said.
As he said, if needed, Serbia will provide additional financial help to RS.
