This Thursday, June 28, 2018, an agreement was signed on the investment of the German company Wieland, which plans to open a plant in this town, Morava Info reports.

Wieland will initially employ 60 workers, and the facility will be located in the former Cer, current Slovas location.

As announced, Wieland will employ another 140 workers at the rented hall in the next phase. Following that, the company will purchase land, most probably in the Preljina business zone, where they will build their own factory, at which up to 600 workers will be employed.

Cacak is the first town in Serbia in which Wieland is opening a facility. The company is headquartered in the German town of Bamberg, where 800 workers are employed, whereas another 600 are employed at facilities in the Czech Republic.

– Wieland produces cables, sockets and electrical components for the construction industry. We have decided to opt for a cascade approach to the investment in Cacak. First, we will make a brownfield investment in the hall, and then a greenfield investment. We had considered several locations in Serbia, and the proximity of the Technical Faculty and the highway, as well as the excellent cooperation with the mayor, made us come here and start the production – said the Managing Director of Wieland, Oliver Eitrich.

He emphasized that the production at Slovas’ halls must begin on October 1, as the contracts on the delivery of wind generators to Philips have already been signed. He also pointed out that he expected the machinery and the equipment to be installed at the hall soon.

– The great efforts and the desire of us all in Cacak for Wieland to come to Cacak, as Vorwerk has, have been realized. Eitrich and I joked that Vorwerk would come to Cacak first, but that Wieland would be the one to initiate the production first. We intend to revive the old Cer location, currently Slovas. There’s a plan for the production of confectionery in this location. With Wieland, a large and serious company, this business zone will come alive as well – Mayor of Cacak Milun Todorovic said, as reported by Morava Info.
