In line with the decision of the Municipal Council, the Municipality of Paracin made public a part of the negotiations with the American company Delphi, which previously announced a potential opening of its plant in the said town. However, the American investor has not provided a response about the investment for a year now.

Let us remind that Delphi produces electrical and electronic equipment for vehicles and that it already has a plant in Novi Sad.

Representatives of Delphi asked the local self-government of Paracin not to make the details of the then ongoing negotiations public before the company made the final decision, and the municipality sent two memos in the meantime, requiring the company to provide a final answer.

The president of the municipality of Paracin, Sasa Paunovic, now says that the municipality has done all that was asked of it.

– As we haven't received an answer for a year now, we no longer want the public not to be informed of the details of our offer, as our good intention of not making the matter public, as Delphi asked as to do due to their plans, is being misused for political purposes, and the public is very interested in learning all the details of our offer to Delphi – Paunovic said.

The municipality had prepared the offer in cooperation with a professional consultant and sent it to the American company on February 14, 2017.

Paunovic adds that the municipality offered to build a hall worth EUR 12 million using its own funds, that is, proceeds from the loan of a commercial bank, whereas Delphi would lease the hall for a period of ten years, with an option of extending the lease by another five years.

The municipality also offered around seven hectares of land and infrastructure worth around EUR 3 million, and on top of that, Delphi was also to get a subsidy of around ten million euros from the state for the creation of new jobs.

Delphi initially planned to employ 1,500 workers, and then later increased the planned number to 2,400.

Paunovic says that the municipality had agreed to adapt itself to those plans, but Delphi then announced that it planned another labor market survey, as they were not sure that the Pomoravlje District had enough workers with the necessary qualifications.
