Preparations for construction of intermodal terminal in Batajnica – Tender for contractors announced for autumn of 2017
According to the data published earlier, the Batajnica intermodal terminal will consist of several parts, the most important of which is the handling section, which will encompass: transhipment tracks for containers and an additional one for engines; truck lanes (passing, loading/unloading, a spare lane and an emergency exit lane); container storage (three lines for temporary container storage).
Also, the Batajnica intermodal terminal will also contain a customs warehouse, a maintenance facility and an administrative control and customs building.
The story of the complex in Batajnica was initiated back in 2012 and was revived in June 2015, when the City Assembly of Belgrade adopted the Detailed Regulation Plan for the Batajnica intermodal terminal and logistics center, which is to take up a total of 63 hectares and where railway and road transport would cross for the purpose of container transport. As reported at the time, the estimated investment will amount to around EUR 15.5 million, and around EUR 4 million is also needed for land expropriation.
Late last year, State Secretary Miodrag Poledica announced that it was possible that the construction would start in the second half of 2017, but that it primarily depended on funds approved within the IPA 2015 program.
