DOSTANIĆ: Domestic investment funds could start work at the beginning of year 2007
The manager of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, Gordana Dostanić, estimated that the first domestic investment funds could start work at the beginning of the year 2007.
She is of the opinion that Serbia does not have much developed and quality market that would enable development of domestic funds, in spite of the fact that foreign investment funds already invest in stock exchange.
According to her words, the question is what the target of the investments of domestic funds will be, because there is no indication that present public companies will move part of their assets to the stock exchange.
At the moment, the funds can be offered somewhat over 1,000 securities of the companies that are on the stock exchange. Of that number, 500 had one or more transactions and only 36 companies have stocks that are in constant circulation.
