The City of Kikinda has put the Draft Detailed Regulation Plan of the airport of Kikinda up for public inspection.

As announced earlier, the airport is planned southwest of Kikinda, right along the IB-grade state road no. 13, on the route toward the settlement of Basaid, in the location of the existing sports and agricultural airport Drakslerov Salas, whose grass runway does not meet the requirements for civil passenger traffic.

– For that reason, the construction of a modern airport with a multipurpose function is planned – commercial, sports, tourism and business-passenger – says the document prepared by the Institute for Urban Planning of Vojvodia and commissioned by the City.

The new airport will have a runway of 1200 x 30 m, with a possibility of expansion and extension for aircraft with a wing span of 15 to 24 meters. The reference aircraft is ATR-72, whereas the critical aircraft is C-130 Hercules.

In the northeast part of the complex, a space is planned where an administrative management building with a tower will be built, a facility for the handling of passengers, hangars for the aircraft, an aircraft parking platform, maneuvering areas, a taxiway, but also a parachute circle and a heliport, as well as parking lots and a fuel supply station.

The total reserved area for all the necessary airport features is 4.6 ha.

The newly planned hangar will serve for sports and business aviation, and the facility is meant as a garage for airplanes.

The control tower will be the tallest building at the airport, with a minimum height of 30 m.

When it comes to the heliport, it is defined as a ground heliport, for Class 1, 2 and 3 helicopters.

The aim of the construction of the airport, it is added, is to connect the North Banat Region with airports in Nis, Vrsac, Belgrade, Podgorica, Tivat and in eastern European countries, but also the transport of mail and the organization of sports and tourism events.

The plan is available for public inspection until February 9.
