International Fair of Fruit, Vegetables and Viticulture Agro Belgrade 2024 Gathers Over 500 Exhibitors from Serbia and World
Agro Belgrade 2024 lasted until January 27. During the three days of the fair, over 500 producers of fresh, frozen and processed fruit, vegetables and grapes, as well as producers of agricultural machines and equipment, nurseries, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, but also other companies which operate in this sector, presented themselves.
In addition to the exhibition part, the three-day conference encompassed discussions about the current and coming trends in the global markets and provided information about the latest technological innovations in the food industry.
The minister of agriculture, forestry and water management, Jelena Tanaskovic, pointed out that the Government of Serbia had dedicated itself to agricultural producers individually and pointed out that that was what had been missing from the systemic solving of the problems in the preceding period.
– We have entered the production of each agricultural branch, but also each agricultural culture, in order to cover the costs with adequate subsidies, which are several times higher compared to those from a few years ago – the competent minister pointed out.
She announced further investments of the Government of Serbia in agriculture, especially in the livestock population of the local producers, but also in the modernization of all other branches of agriculture, for the purpose of increasing the competitiveness.
U.S Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill pointed out that agriculture knows no boundaries, making it important to the development of each country.
– This is a sector which has to follow the challenges of this time. Agriculture is linked with infrastructural development, investments in the technological sense and the questions of capital. I am proud of the support that our Development Agency (USAID) has provided to the agriculture sector in Serbia – said Hill.
The minister of agriculture, forestry and water management of Montenegro, Vladimir Jokovic, said that that country wanted to develop its agriculture and improve the cooperation with Serbia.
– Agriculture is an important strategic branch in the development of our country, which certainly has big capabilities of developing and exporting to the region – said Jokovic.
The fair was held with the support of the Big Small Businesses project, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, USAID, the City Secretariat for Agriculture and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, whereas the company Budimka is the friend of the fair.
