Reconstruction and modernization of the second track of the Stalac-Djunis railway to start this fall - Call for contractors open until September 1
This was announced by the EU Delegation in Serbia and the contractor, PE Serbian Railways Infrastructure.
The deadline was extended from August 4th to September, and the work involves the preparation of a project for a building permit, the preparation of the main project and works on the railway.
The construction of the second track is planned for the length of 17.1 km, enabling speeds of 160 km/h.
As per the tender documentation, Tunnel 4 is the subject of a separate contract, whereas this tender will include the construction of four additional tunnels through the Stalac gorge.

The modernization of the Belgrade-Nis railroad is part of the railway project between Belgrade and North Macedonia, the construction of which the EU has announced last year and will support it with EUR 700 million. According to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the cost of the construction from Belgrade to Nis will be EUR 1.766 billion, however at least EUR 600 million will be provided by the EU.
He also announced last spring that the works will be completed by 2026.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced that nearly 56% of the Belgrade-Nis railway will allow for a speed of 200 km per hour.
