Serbia is negotiating with partners from the Middle East about the possibility of importing oil from there and having the “black gold” delivered to the country through the Port of Durres in Albania, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said last night and pointed out that there were also negotiations with European partners, so that Serbia would secure sufficient quantities of oil.

Vucic said on RTV Vojvodina last night that there were already negotiations with partners from the Middle East about the possibility of having Serbia import petroleum from them and that it could be delivered to Serbia through the Albanian Port of Durres.

He said that he didn’t know how the problem regarding oil would end, that is, whether Serbia and NIS would be exempt from the EU sanctions toward Russian companies.

– I am already talking to some of our friends from the Middle East about importing oil from them and I am looking at where we could have it transported. The best and the easiest option is for it to arrive to Durres. We are now looking into how the transport to Durres can be organized, whether the cisterns and transportation means are there and how it can be done – Vucic said.

He added that Serbia had to import enormous quantities of oil daily.
