Future Look of Prokop Presented – Completion of Construction of Belgrade Center Railway Station in Three Years, Minister Announces
The minister announced that the works in Belgrade Center, which are in progress, would be completed in August 2021 and that their value was around EUR 11 million, that the negotiations with the World Bank would start not long after and that the second phase of the work, which pertains to the railway infrastructure, would cost 25 to 30 million euros.
– The third stage is to follow, which will not cost us anything, because, under the model of the public-private partnership, the private investor will establish an adequate railway infrastructure, that is, the railway building and the passenger reception area, and in turn they will be given a space in which it will invest itself and put it into a commercial function for its purposes. This means that not a single dinar will be spent from the budget or by the citizens for this investment, and a quality wider rail infrastructure will be gained – Momirovic said.
Momirovic pointed out that the entire project of the Belgrade Center railway center was being realized with local partners and that local contractors, engineers and workers had been hired and that the goal in this investment cycle was to raise the capacities and to enable our companies to be competitive in the foreign market.
The director of the Serbian Railways Infrastructure, Milan Maksimovic, and representatives of the company Elita Kop, which is carrying out the works in Prokop, introduced the minister to the activities at the construction site.
Milutin Milosevic, the director of Beogradcvor, introduced the minister to the history of the development of the Belgrade railway hub and the Belgrade Center stations and the current projects, which entail the construction of the railway station and commercial features in Prokop, as well as the necessary traffic routes.
