Capital Projects in Bor – Plan by 2022 Includes New Mines, Factories, Bypass Route, Wind Farm...
The investments and projects of Serbia Zijin Bor Copper doo and Zijin Rakita have the most prominent place within the plan.
In late February, Zijin officially announced the preliminary design of the Project for Increasing the Capacities of Refined Copper. The plan is to increase the annual production from the current projected 80,000 tons to 150,000 tons, with an additional potential of up to 200,000 tons of cathode copper.
An amount of USD 500 million was initially invested in the opening of the Cukaru Peki mine, whereas Zijin will invest in former RTB Bor, with Majdanpek, 1 billion and 260 million dollars. In 2020 alone, the total investments of the Chinese company will amount to USD 800 million. According to the officials' earlier announcements, the projects related to RTB should be completed in two years at the latest, whereas the production at Cukaru Peki is planned to begin in mid-2021.
The Plan includes, among other things, a full reconstruction and adaptation of the hospital facility (which is an investment worth EUR 10 million that should begin in September 2020). Also included are the preparation of the project documentation, studies and preliminary designs or construction of two biomass and solar heating plants, a waste water treatment facility in the Borska Reka basin, a bypass route around the city, a wind farm on Crni Vrh, reconstruction of the water supply system, construction of water supply systems in several villages, primarily in Zlot, Gornjane, Metovnica and Bucje, village roads and city streets, an aqua park and a football stadium. Other important works include the works on the pools and the halls at the Sports Center, as well as the construction of a modern archery facility (expected to be completed in a year), water network and sewer at Bor Lake, adaptation and reconstruction of the facilities of the Preschool Institution “Bambi” and reconstruction of school buildings at four elementary schools and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Projects expected to be completed soon include the opening of the first European kindergarten in NGC and the development of Stol and Savaca, as well as finally finding a solution for the City Gate.
