The 54th International Book Fair opened in Belgrade

In the arena of the Belgrade Fair's hall 1, writer Dragan Velikić, the Ambassador of Serbia to Austria, and academic Tanasis Valtinos, a representative of Greece - the country guest of honor, opened the 54th International Book Fair in Belgrade last night (October 26, 2009) to the sounds of fanfare and in the presence of large number of writers, public persons and literature fans.

The ceremonious opening took place in the presence of Nebojša Bradić, the Minister of Culture and Information, and Žarko Obradović, the Minister of Education. The theme of the Fair, which has the new concept this year, is "The Sea of Books".

In addition to presentation of honorable guests - Greek publishers, hall 1 will also be used for promotion of local and foreign publishers, that is, their own publications.

Local and foreign publishers and bookstores are situated on the ground floor of hall 4 (former hall 14), while antiquarian books can be found at the hall's gallery. Over 800 publishers from the country and abroad present their publications at the surface of about 31,000 square meters.

Sail on "The Sea of Books" will last until Sunday, November 1st. The Fair will be open every day between 10 AM and 8 PM, the price of individual tickets is 250 RSD, while group tickets cost 150 RSD per person.
