The Mayor of Niš, Miloš Simonović, announced today (October 9, 2009) that two foreign low-cost airliners should open air traffic between Niš-based airport "Konstantin Veliki" and Italy and Sweden.

- We have reached the agreement with Italian "low-cost" company "Wind Jet" on introduction of regular flights from the airport in Niš, which will be a part of the winter timetable - Simonović told Beta agency.

He said that Swedish low-cost air transportation company "MCA Airlines" would also be flying from the airport in Niš.

- That airliner has agreed in principle with our idea that the flight to Sweden should include a stop at an airport in Germany - said Simonović.

He expressed a hope that Irish and English "low cost" companies "Ryan Air" and "Jet 2" will include the airport in Niš in their 2010 summer timetables.

- The arrival of these "low cost" companies in Niš is enabled by this year's ratification of the open sky agreement in the Parliament of Serbia, as well as by the official document issued by "Jat Airways", according to which that company "has no capacities to increase the number of flights from Niš" - said Miloš Simonović.

The winter timetable of "Jat Airways" does not include Niš-Zurich flight any more.
