"Future for all II" - 50,000 EUR for development of regions of Pčinj and Jablanica
The Center for Development of the Jablanica and Pčinj Regions started realization of programme "Future for all II" on September 22, 2009. Within the next two years, this project will be implemented in Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia, and the funds in amount of 300,000 EUR have been provided by European Union.
According to the plan, workshops will be organized in 15 cities of Serbia, including Vladičin Han and Trgovište as the representatives of the south of Serbia, in order to collect the information on target groups (Roma people and children)
concerning their status and poverty level.
Biljana Stanković, the CEO of the Center for Development of the Jablanica and Pčinj Regions, pointed out that the differences between the citizens in Serbia were significant at the moment, and that there were about 8% of population who lived in poverty.
- This project is significant to us because we will collect the information on the state of poverty in Serbia. We expect to understand what poverty means and what its causes are after we finish realization of the project. According to the statistics, 8% of 8m citizens in Serbia are living in poverty. That group primarily includes kids and old people. We hope that the project will help us recognize the problem and take appropriate measures to reduce poverty, which is our obligation on our way to admission into EU. This is only an initiative and I hope that the Center for Development of the Jablanica and Pčinj Regions, in association with other organizations, will show that very good results can be achieved with small funds. We have been granted 50,000 EUR for the project in Serbia - naglasila je na konferenciji za novinare Biljana Stanković.
