The Mayor of Subotica, Saša Vučinić, said on September 18, 2009, that railways cars factory "Bratstvo" had been paid 30m RSD worth of advance for overhaul of 100 cars of public company "Serbian Railways", and that the production would start on September 21st.

Vučinić said to the press that, thanks to that money, the workers would be paid the advance for August and September 2008 in amount of 30,000 RSD, as well as travel expenses.

- The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development has signed the contract for overhaul of 100 railway cars, and the whole project is worth 101m RSD - he pointed out.

The workers of "Bratstvo" were on strike between February and July 2009 when the majority owner of the factory, Vladimir Delić, agreed to donate 51% of stocks to the state.

According to his words, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Rasim Ljajić, should submit a request at the next meeting of the Government for payment of emergency aid in amount of 5,000 RSD to the workers of "Bratstvo".

The Secretary of the Municipal trade union council, Ištvan Hudji, said that the most important thing was that 328 workers had kept their jobs, and that "Bratstvo" was to form the Administrative Board with seven members.

Production in the units of "Bratstvo" has been discontinued for nine months. According to the striking board of that company, it has been determined that the company's debt amounts to 10m EUR.
