Pay bands not before 2020 after all
As announced in the Official Gazette, these are the Law on the Salary System in the Public Sector and the Law on Employees in Public Services.
This practically means that the implementation of the regulations on pay bands is postponed until January 1, 2020.
No explanation for the postponement has been given so far.
The introduction of pay bands for employees in public services is proscribed by the Law on the Salary System in the Public Sector, adopted by the National Assembly of Serbia on December 14, 2017. The Law on Employees in Public Services, which proscribes equal salaries for the same job in each service, was also adopted at the time.
The plan was for employees to be fairly compensated for their work.
To clarify, this delay does not influence the announced raise of salaries in the public sector, which is planned for late 2018 or early 2019.
