City Assembly of Belgrade adopts budget rebalance
The total budget after the rebalance amounts to slightly under RSD 103.3 billion, and the deficit is around RSD 8.3 billion.
A total of 59 members of the city parliament voted for the budget rebalance.
Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said that the budget rebalance was being carried out as there was a surplus of RSD 25 million in the budget and that the city would put that money into projects. He announced that, by 2020, the city would develop 300 of its schools and that the plan was to install 200 more underground containers and around 1,500 conventional ones.
He also announced the laying down of tram tracks on the Ada Bridge and the development of the footbridge on Kalemegdan.
He also said that the development of the Republic Square would begin in August, announced the moving of a section of the Topciderska river course, the construction of a secondary sewer system in Altina, the provision of water supply in several settlements and a linear park in the location of the former railway along the Danube and the Sava in downtown Belgrade.
The budget rebalance also entails funds for the construction of a gondola across the Sava, from Kalemegdan to Usce.
Vesic said that the sale of the Dorcol Marina was expected as well and that the money from the sale would be put into the infrastructure in the surrounding area.
– Attractive residential and office facilities will be raised there. The old power plant will become the Science and Research Center Nikola Tesla. The Nikola Tesla Museum should also be located there. The current Museum has 100,000 visitors a year – Vesic said.
At the session, along with the budget rebalance, there was also discussion about the city's 2017 statement of accounts, the amount of funds for the city's and the urban municipalities' operations and the defining of the revenues belonging to the city.
There was also discussion about the financing of programs and projects of direct and indirect users of city funds and about the conversion of the city's claims related to the unsettled assignment of public revenues into permanent stakes in Politika a.d. Beograd, Lasta and Lastra.
Furthermore, the discussion also included the items about the draft decision on the write-off of claims based on unsettled own and assigned public revenues of the city to Galenika.
