Government of Serbia reaches decision on sale of Valjevo brewery – Privatization to take place no later than this autumn?
According to unofficial information, there is an interest in the brewery, and one of the companies interested is Holland’s Heineken. What’s not a secret, Kolubarske reports, is that the privatization of the Valjevo brewery will start no later than this autumn.
– The Valjevo brewery is now entering a new stage of its life, where we expect to agree with the Government of Serbia for the production to continue, which is what’s most important for the employees and the city, and I believe that there will be no problems considering that we’ve discussed big investments which are necessary, and we’re talking considerable amounts, at the talks we’ve had – the director of the Valjevo brewery, Aleksandar Rajevac, said for Kolubarske.
The workers of the Valjevo brewery say for this local medium that they await privatization with unease.
– It hasn’t been confirmed officially, but we’ve learned that serious world companies are interested in the Valjevska brewery, which certainly wouldn’t let anything go wrong with this privatization. If our proposition for investments, especially in new equipment, is accepted, there’s no reason for the future purchaser to invest the money, and then stop the production – Rajevac says.
The Valjevo brewery has been realizing remarkable results in the past five years and it ended 2017 as well with a considerable income. It currently has 189 permanent employees and five temporary employees, Kolubarske says.
