Slovenia's Alpina buys Peko brand
At the previous auction for the brand of the former footwear giant, no one offered even EUR 100,000, but Alpina has now bought out the oldest Slovenian footwear brand, which is considered to have been Alpina's biggest competition for several decades.
Alpina, which has itself recently pulled out of a difficult period, is convinced that the Peko brand, very well recognized in Slovenia and the markets of the former Yugoslavia, will enable the development of the retail network in these markets and a growth of the sales in the segment of designer footwear for women and men.
– We see synergy in other markets. Peko and Alpina have some mutual clients in the markets of Germany and Russia, and some of them have already confirmed the cooperation at the recently held negotiations – said director of Alpina, Bojan Gantar.
After a financial restructuring, the majority of Alpina is now owned by the Bank Assets Management Company, and, to a lesser extent, Abanka.
