July to see set up of Transport Community of Western Balkans - Objective is unique traffic market in the region

Transport community of the Western Balkans should be set up July 12, at the summit in Trieste and now only the consent of Pristina is missing, Deutsche Welle (DW)has announced today.

As indicated, the preparation of set up of the transport community in the region has been lasting for eight years, and early June representatives of Serbia, which has so far been the main obstacle to an agreement because of disagreements over how Kosovo will be represented in it, put its initial it, according to German international radio.

In Brussels, it was concluded that the Constitution of Macedonia, another country whose initial were awaited, allows direct signing of the contract without prior initialling so that it can be done in Trieste at the summit of the Western Balkans.

DW states that at the meeting of the EUR working group for the Western Balkans earlier this week in Brussels, representatives of several countries asked the European Commission to take tougher measures so that Kosovo would accept the agreement on transportation and infrastructure.

The Transport Community should comprise Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. The objective of this community set up is a single market of transport infrastructure, land, river and sea traffic between the countries of the Western Balkans and EU.
