Novi Sad’s OrganicNet presenting Serbia in Helsinki – Slush conference November 30 – December 1
OrganicNet is an online platform connecting organic food producers to those who want to live and eat healthy. It supports the organic movement and promotes and supports values and principles of organic production. So far, it is working in Serbia, and the plan is to expand the operations to the territory of Great Britain.
This company from Novi Sad is one of the 13 startups which took part in the local Slush 2016 competition, organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Belgrade’s Innovation Fund.
The competition, which has been organized for two years in a row, provides local startups with an opportunity to present their innovations to local and international mentors and qualify for taking part in the Helsinki conference. The winners are trained to develop their operations and are given an opportunity to present themselves to colleagues and investors from all over the world, as part of the Impakt accelerator and at the conference. The three finalists of the local competition in Serbia – OrganicNet, SEEZER and CWool Box – were additionally tested by experts from Helsinki, following which the winner was chosen.
– Being a developing startup, taking part in the Helsinki conference is of great importance to us. This is a remarkable opportunity to get valuable advice on how to further develop our product, as well as testes strategies for expanding to other markets. This is a unique opportunity to present our solution to a wider audience which recognizes the importance of our platform and a healthy lifestyle and, with this, we are a step closer to fulfilling our mission. Our goal is to connect to everyone supporting the development of the organic movement and promoting and supporting the values and principles of organic production – says Dragana Grbic of OrganicNet.
More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the conference, among which are more than 700 investors.
Ambassador Pertti Ikonen said that this was a great opportunity for companies from Serbia to see how Finnish companies operated. As he reminded, Finland is the third most innovative country in the world, after Switzerland and Israel and the experience of Finnish entrepreneurs can be very significant for companies from Serbia, but each country should nevertheless develop its own concept of innovation.
– The demand for innovations and startups is growing in the whole world, making the Slush Conference that much more important. It has already crossed the borders of Finland and became a regional, Scandinavian event, and it is very important for Serbia to be a part of the European innovation community on its way to the European Union – Ikonen said at the reception held to honor the winner.
Nebojsa Lazic, member of the jury, agreed and said that the main criterion in Slush 2016 was to see which company would benefit the most from going to Finland.
