Emergency Management Office in Belgrade opens September 1st - City announces big projects as of autumn

Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali announced June 4th that the Business Incubator and the Emergency Management Office would be opened in the capital city on September 1st as planned.

- Our aim is to change the attitude towards big investors who're awaiting permits for several years. We've met with each of these investors and we expect the implementation of few large projects to start as early as this autumn - the mayor said at the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, after a meeting with the Association of Construction Industry and Communal Service.

As he noted, only 45 building permits have been issued in Belgrade in the past four years. He said the capital should issue that many permits every quarter in order to revive the construction industry employing 27,000 people in 3,600 companies.

Mali also promised that Belgrade would start improving its appearance as early as the next year.

He mentioned few substantial projects valued at billions of euros: Belgrade on Water, the commencement of construction of new hotels Jugoslavija and Hilton, a complex of buildings near the former factory Beko in Dorcol (valued at EUR 220 million), and projects at Autokomanda.
