Investment worth €60 million in the pipeline - Eyemaxx ready for construction of cargo center in Nis

Austria's Eyemaxx has sent a letter of intent to the city of Nis, expressing its readiness to continue the works on the construction of a cargo center at Nis-based Konstantin Veliki airport.

At the same time, the Nis City Council drew a conclusion two days ago on the design of a feasibility study and the lease of a building land to the Austrian company.

According to that conclusion, the study that is expected to be finished until 20 October 2011 should justify the lease of a city building land at a price lower than the market price.

The cargo center complex would span about 260,000 square meters, whereas the facility alone would occupy an area of about 136,000 square meters.

In the starting phase, about 400 people would get a job. An agreement on the construction of a logistics cargo center was signed in Nis with aforementioned Austrian company on 10 October 2008.

The agreement worth about EUR 60 million was on that occasion signed by Eyemaxx Director General Mikhail Mueller and Director of the Nis airport Radisav Radojkovic.

The city has been searching for a solution to the ownership and legal status of the land ever since, and the Austrian company has not been not ready for the investment because of the economic crisis, it was said after the session of the City Council.

This cargo center was supposed to comprise warehouses, offices and a hotel, and Mueller then said that the investment might exceed EUR 100 million if partners expressed interest in the construction of an office center and a shopping center.
