24 hours at building site – in spite of economic crisis, construction of Aleksandar Boulevard Center in Novi Sad goes as planned

Starting yesterday, the works on Aleksandar Boulevard Center, the biggest business-residential building in Vojvodina, are being carried out 24 hours a day – said Vojislav Gajić, the owner and the Director of "Aleksandar gradnja".

Namely, all rough works on construction of the building, which are carried out by renowned builders from Novi Sad-based "Budućnost", have been finished, and the conditions are created for non-stop interior, fine works, in order for the facility to be completed before the scheduled deadline, which was announced for December 2009.

Gajić expressed belief that the global economic crisis would not have significant influence on the completion of this important facility at gross surface of 50,000 square meters, because the investment was already provided and covered at the time when the foundations were laid.

However, residential construction as a branch is facing serious crisis. There have been no new building sites in Novi Sad since the New Year, the investors have discontinued the works on some locations that are already prepared for construction, the banks can not support investors and construction any more… In one word, the situation in the most important economic branch for every society is alarming.

- Therefore, it is necessary for the state, local self-governments and building companies to agree on the priorities and the creation of conditions for continuation of construction, which should save significant number of jobs and breathe the fresh life into the branch – said Vojislav Gajić.

What is especially important is to significantly relax the investors concerning the taxes for public utility equipping of the building sites and to enable them to pay for all the obligations successively, during construction, and not like before – at once and in advance.
