Capitol Park Sombor, the first retail park in Sombor, today (September 21, 2017) opened its doors to visitors. This investment by the British Poseidon Group is worth EUR 10 million.

Brands that welcomed their first customers at Strosermajerova Street in Sombor are Deichmann, Takko, DM, C&A, Studio Moderna (Top Shop), Nefa Furniture, Winner Exchange Office, My Kiosk and Galen Pharmacy, Poseidon reported.

Opening events started with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Sombor officials and those from surrounding municipalities, and partners involved in the building of the project. The attendees were greeted by the President of the Assembly of the City of Sombor prim. Dr Zoran Parcetic. With Poseidon Group director in Serbia James Gunn, Dr Parcetic marked the start of Capitol Park Sombor and celebrated its successful future.

Mr Gunn thanked Sombor Municipality and its citizens for their significant support during the intense construction phase of the project and announced further investments in Serbia:

– Continued investments demonstrate our confidence in the economic recovery of Serbia, which will bring more jobs, while expanding consumer choice and services of benefit to communities across the country.

Dr Parčetić commented on the importance of the investment to Sombor, adding that Sombor used to be the main trade center in the region and that he expected that Capitol Park Sombor opening would bring this back.

Capitol Park Sombor marks the successful completion of the first phase of the project, while Lidl hypermarket will open in 2018.

Capitol Park Sombor is Poseidon Group’s second retail park project in Serbia following the opening of Capitol Park Sabac in 2014.

In October, Capitol Park Rakovica will open in Belgrade, with other new projects due in 2018.

Poseidon confirmed earlier that it had plans for Leskovac too.
