A database of all illegally built facilities in Serbia has been available on the website of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure since July 3, 2017.
Deputy Minister of Construction Darinka Djuran said to the press that there were over two million illegally built facilities in Serbia and that the process of legalization had been initiated on January 16. She explained that 1.6 million illegally built facilities had been registered in 50 days, completing the first phase of the process.
– The second phase ends by the publication of this database, which shows the exact number of illegally built family, manufacturing, residential, commercial and farm facilities in each municipality and town – Djuran pointed out.
As she said, the next step is to have decisions reached by building inspectors, as a requirement for a facility to enter the process of legalization, with the aim of completing the entire process in the next three years.
– When we started doing this on January 16, only around 30,000 decisions on legalization had been reached in Serbia, and now we have over 86,000 decisions reached – Djuran said.
She added that it was important for citizens to know that everything registered would be subject to legalization, because, as she said “they would lose faith in the past in having their facilities legalized, and now they can view their facilities in the database”.
– The legalization tax price for a residential or a family facility is RSD 5,000, and, according to the projections, the state should receive around RSD 26 billion in taxes – Djuran said.
She added that the analyses had shown that the cities featuring the biggest number of non-legalized residential and family facilities, nearly a million of the total number, were Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Sabac, Cacak and Leskovac.
– The tax money can be invested in infrastructure, so that citizens could get an adequate utility structure through the payment – Djuran explained.
She announced that the next step of the ministry was to register cadaster parcels for each individual facility, so as to “assure citizens, in a way, that their facility will finally be legalized and get a realistic market price”.
