Construction of Dam and Artificial Lake in Arilje Worth EUR 100 Million
According to Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic, with the completion of the works, a lake will be formed which will spread on an area of 139 hectares, which will supply the residents of several municipalities and the city of Cacak with water.
– It will also be very important when it comes to flood protection. The plan is for the dam to be used to take the force of the flood wave, increasing the degree of protection of the entire area – Nedimovic said.
The construction began in 2011, and the entry structure of the diversion tunnel was completed last year. The whole river is meant to flow through the tunnel, so that the construction of the dam could begin on the dry river bed.
One of the most demanding structures at the construction site, the water intake tower, should be 61 meters tall, and this is a facility that will be located in the artificial lake, taking in water at three levels, for the supply of Arilje, Pozega, Lucani, Cacak and Gornji Milanovac.
