Overview

Indjija is located in the southern region of Vojvodina called Srem. It covers the area of 385 km². Its administrative centre is the town of Indjija, surrounded by 10 settlements forming the municipality of Indjija: Beška, Jarkovci, Krčedin, Ljukovo, Maradik, Novi Karlovci, Stari Slankamen, Novi Slankamen, Stari Vinogradi and Čortanovci. Fruška Gora hills extend to the north of the municipality and fertile plain to the south.

Indjija is 45 km from Belgrade International Airport and 30 km from Novi Sad.

Population:

Indjija has 52,750 inhabitants and population density of 130/m². It has a very diverse population comprising Serbs, Croats, Hungarians, Slovaks, Ukrainians, Roma, Macedonians, Ruthenians, Russians, Bosnians, Bulgarians, Czechs, and others.

The current unemployment rate is 11%. The total number of employed inhabitants is 9,107. Approximately 75 % of the unemployed inhabitants have trading certificates and high school or university degrees.

Economy:

There are 3,760 registered businesses, 90% of which are privately owned. Over 45% of all businesses are industrial manufacturing facilities, mainly metal and rubber manufacturing. The second largest industry (over 30%) is retail and wholesale trade. The remaining 25 % of businesses are engaged in construction, hospitality industry, transportation and other industries.

Companies that have manufacturing facilities in this municipality include well-known international companies such as Henkel (Germany), Farmina (Italy), companies from automotive sector such as Lagermax Elite and Midland Group, food processing companies Invej and Swisslion, Izoterm Plama (Slovenia), Plastic Joint Stock Company (Slovenia), Werner Weber (Germany), Re-Energy, Austria (first wind generator in Serbia ). There is a Mercator (Slovenia) retail centre in the municipality.

Infrastructure:

Indjija is a strategically important location. It lies at the crossroads of the highways and railroads connecting Belgrade and Zagreb on one side, and Sofia-Belgrade-Subotica-Budapest on the other, leading further to all major European destinations. The strategic location of Indjija on the Pan-European Corridors 10 and 7 (the Danube river), and the proximity to Belgrade International Airport makes this municipality very attractive.

Tourism:

The municipality offers good opportunities for development of tourism, especially hunting, fishing, transport, and spa tourism. The most interesting sites are the Mount Fruška Gora, with its significant cultural and historical monuments (such as Slankamen sites from the period of Ancient Rome and Middle Ages), a spa centre, numerous monasteries on the Mount Fruška Gora, Stražilovo picnic area and the old town of Petrovaradin with the Varadin fortress. The municipality of Indjija is also famous for its Old Slankamen spa, one of the most popular physical rehabilitation centers.

Site: North-east Industrial zone

Total area: 650 ha

Type of ownership: Partly owned by the municipality and partly privately-owned.

Intended use: Construction of large-scale industrial plants

Site description

Industrial zone is ideally located, 500m off the E75 highway and 1 km off the M22 road. Belgrade Airport is just 25 km away from the site. The Indjija–highway–Stari Slankamen road intersects the site. There are several factories in different lines of work, while 85% of the total area is unoccupied and ready to accommodate new industrial plants.

Infrastructure

The Industrial zone has access to high-voltage power line, water supply system, and telecom services. Principal gas pipeline runs through the area with a possibility to connect major consumers to it.

Additional information:

Land lease for the period of 99 years is possible. The shortest possible period necessary for obtaining all the required permits and approvals for construction on the site is 3 months. The required planning and regulatory documentation already exists - General Development Plan of the Municipality of Indjija.

Location 2

Site: South-east Industrial zone

Total area: 120 ha

Type of ownership: State, privately and socially-owned property

Intended use: Construction of industrial plants

Site description:

The Industrial zone is located 2.5 km off the E75 highway and the M22 road intersects the site. Belgrade Airport is 25 km away. Approximately 20 small and medium-size enterprises in different lines of work operate in the zone, while 75% of the total area is still unoccupied. It is primarily intended for construction of non-polluting plants, and SMEs. However, it has a potential to accommodate even larger-scale companies or industrial plants.

Infrastructure:

The Industrial Zone has access to high-voltage power line, water and gas supply systems, as well as telecom services.
