Sisu auto does not deliver offer for FAP – the Finish again visit Priboj-based plant
The only reasons why Finish Sisu auto is not the owner of Priboj-based Car plant is waiting for the Serbian Assembly to adopt the new laws and complying with the tender procedure.
Although Timo Korhonen, the owner of Scandinavian company and the Prime
Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, May 31 announced that late August the contract on
company sale will be signed, it did not happen.
The fact that their engineers spent two weeks in Priboj proves Sisu auto will
fulfill promise.
The Finish set two terms. The first one is that the state settles the FAP’s
remaining debts and then too set aside four liable companies from the firm they
are not interested in. On the other hand, the Government of Serbia insists, as
Blic finds out, that Sisu auto, in stages, within reasonable deadline, hires at
least 600 people of the existing plant.
In 2011, Korhonen became the owner of Sisu auto in the times when the company
was facing the edge of economic abyss, in the similar situation as FAP is
facing today. Sisu auto is an assoc iate of Mercedes and all biggest truck
industry companies.
What did Korhonen promise:
- Huge investments, new technologies and lot of work
- No competition in large series
- Small series of expensive, narrow-specialized trucks
- Workers from Priboj to attend training in Finland
- 200 people hired in the beginning
- 400 more to be hired in two stages
- Experienced staff required,
- Workers will have decent life provided from their salaries
