Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas said that, after years-long negotiations, a definite agreement had finally been reached with France on the construction of a metro in Belgrade. Construction works should commence within next two years and the first subway line should be open for traffic in 2016 or early 2017, reads a statement published on the official website of the City of Belgrade.

– With the bridges at Ada and in Borca and the metro, I believe that traffic in Belgrade will finally be normalized. I would like to stress that Belgrade will also pay a big attention to PKB, which we want to turn into a successful and profitable company – said the mayor of Belgrade.

He also reminded that the bridge at Ada Ciganlija, of which two sides were joined few days ago, would be finished by the year's end.
