New Hospital in Bor to Have Heliport, at Least 340 Beds, Oncology and Toxicology Departments, 8 Operating and Two Delivery Rooms… – Tender for Design Published

The Municipal Administration of Bor has published the tender for the preparation of the project-technical documentation for the construction of the new General Hospital in Bor, in Nikole Kopernika Street.

According to the specification of the job, the new hospital complex will feature the newly built General Hospital building with an estimated gross area of 20,000 m2 and infrastructural facilities (a substation, a boiler room, a facility for medical waste treatment, a facility for the storage of medical gases…), and it will also entail landscaping and internal traffic routes, as well as a heliport.

The departments of the existing hospital will also be located in the new one as well, with the required expansion of the capacities.

The tendering documentation points out that the General Hospital Bor is of a regional character and provides services to the residents of the City of Bor and the Bor District, and it is also important for the fact that there are seven copper and gold mines in this territory.

– The number of Chinese nationals is around 8,000. The number of injuries in the mines, as well as instances of gas and heavy metal poisoning, is much higher than in other cities – it is said.

It is added that the hospital needs a hyperbaric chamber located in an adequate space due to the increase in the number of diabetics and a coronary unit with 10 beds, as well as a brain stroke unit with 6 beds, due to the growth of the number of instances of cardiovascular diseases.

Also, the number of instances of malignant diseases has increased, so it is necessary to found an oncology department with 8 beds. Also, the number of instances of gas and heavy metal poisoning, so it is also necessary to open a toxicology laboratory and department.


Among other things, eight operating rooms and two delivery rooms with monitoring are needed, as is a department for infectious diseases.

Due to workplace injuries which are very frequent in mines, it is necessary to increase the number of beds in the orthopedy and neurosurgery departments, as well as plan departments for transfusion medicine, palliative care with 6 beds, open a service for the reception and triage of patients, a department for children and child surgery with 5 beds, a kitchen…

The minimum number of beds in the new hospital is 340, and the optimal number would be 370. The current hospital has 310 beds.
