How to Spend up to 4 Times Less Electricity on Heating

Although meteorologists are announcing hot days for the end of the summer and the beginning of the autumn, the heating season is around the corner and if you want to save on heating your personal or working space, perhaps you should consider the installation of heat pumps.

As the main advantage of heat pumps compared to traditional heating, experts emphasize big electricity savings and a greater comfort.

– If we compare them to electrical boilers, heat pumps for floor heating spend 4 times less electrical energy, and compared to radiator heating, 3 times. Their advantage lies in the lower temperature of water heating, and they are also characterized by more comfortable operations, because a heat pump works with a much lower load and thereby consumes less power, so the bills are lower as well – says Igor Stojanovic, the owner of Klima Servis Stojanovic doo from Belgrade. He also mentions the possibility of switching on this type of heating through an app, without having to go to the boiler room, as another advantage.

Stojanovic points out that now is the right time to consider installing heat pumps and floor heating, given that the demand for them grows rapidly in the heating season:

– The purchasers are already asking around, because, last year, there was a dearth of heat pumps considering the energy situation in the world and locally. There were not enough of them in stock and they practically went out as soon as they arrived. That is why the advice is to think about installing them as soon as possible, because the increased demand will start in a month already.

He adds that the price of the installation can be obtained upon inquiry, because no residential or office space is the same, so the offer for the installation of heating pumps is made after going out in the field.

Servicing of air-conditioning devices after the cooling season

Plenty of users choose heating through air-conditioning devices, so Igor Stojanovic advises what is needed for the air-conditioning device to work smoothly even after the intensive cooling season which is behind us.

– It is ideal for a detailed annual servicing of air-conditioning devices, which entails deep cleaning, to be done twice a year, before the cooling season and after the cooling season, and ahead of the heating season. If it is done once a year, which is what people who use air-conditioning more moderately usually choose, the best time is now, after the cooling season, so that it would be cleaned in detail after working for a long time.

The annual servicing that the Stojanovic company offers always entails the so-called big servicing, that is, the deep washing and cleaning of the turbine of the internal unit of the air-conditioning device, the filter and the mask, as well as the checking of the freon and the washing of the external unit, and the overall functionality of the device is also checked.

– Deep washing is done with a special high-pressure device and that is why it is not recommended for users to try to do it themselves, especially when it comes to external units and central air-conditioning devices, which are more complex – Stojanovic notes.

What the users should do in order to extend the life cycle of their air conditioning is to regularly, once a month, wash the filter with a degreasing of glass-cleaning product.

– Strong, abrasive products should be avoided, and the filter is washed by simply spraying the chemical product on it and washing it under a shower. If there are bigger accumulations, a soft brush should be used to gently rub the filter so as to not damage it – Stojanovic advises and reminds that the temperature regime of the air-conditioning device should not deviate from the external air temperature by more than 10 degrees Celsius.
