In Serbia, in March, 6.1% Fewer Building Permits Issued Than One Year Before

In March 2023, the number of 2,576 building permits was issued, presenting the decrease of 6.1% when compared to March 2022, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

Out of the total number of permits issued in March 2023, 80.7% related to buildings, and 19.3% to civil engineering constructions.

When only buildings are concerned, 77.9% of permits related to residential buildings, and 22.1% to non–residential ones, while regarding civil engineering constructions the largest number related to pipelines, communication and electric power lines (67.8%).

According to the permits issued in March 2023 in the Republic of Serbia, the construction of 3,665 dwellings with average useful floor space of 71.4 m2 was recorded. Out of the total number of dwellings in new residential buildings, 10.7% of dwellings will be built in single-dwelling buildings, with average useful floor space of 146.1 m², and 87.8% of dwellings will be in buildings with three and more dwellings, with significantly smaller average useful floor space of 60.7 m².

The anticipated value of new construction works in March 2023 amounted to 79.9% of the totally anticipated value of works.

Observed by areas, the greatest construction activity is expected in Beogradska oblast, 30.9% of the anticipated value of new construction works, followed by Južnobačka oblast (12.1%), Nišavska oblast (7.2%), Mačvanska oblast (6.1%) and Zlatiborska oblast (5.6%).
