Second Phase of Clean Serbia Project Worth Over EUR 213 Million to Begin – Agreements with Chinese Company CRBC Signed

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, the director of the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), Yang Dong, and representatives of eight local self-governments have signed annexes within the second phase of the Clean Serbia project, the Government of Serbia announced.

The total value of the project in the second phase is slightly over EUR 213 million, whereas the length of the sewer pipes is 444 kilometers, Vesic specified and announced that the third phase would be done in 2024 and that the whole project was worth over EUR 3.5 billion.

The annexes were signed at the Government of Serbia by representatives of Sombor, Valjevo, Cicevac, Doljevac, Ada, Svilajnac, Indjija and Subotica, which practically marked the beginning of the second phase of said project.

On that occasion, Vesic emphasized that it was the biggest utility infrastructure project at the level of the whole country.

– Within the project, sewer systems will be built in a total of 73 municipalities, in 89 locations, and then also 157 waste water treatment facilities, a total of five million meters of sewer pipes will be installed, so close to 2.36 million people will get a sewer connection – the minister specified.


The signing was also attended by the ambassador of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, who said that Clean Serbia was a project of big importance for the development of Serbia, because it would help improve the living standard and the protection of the living environment.

The first phase in 16 towns and municipalities in Serbia is developing successfully, and following the signing of the annexes, the second phase will begin as well, the ambassador pointed out and expressed hope that increasingly more citizens of Serbia would feel the positive results of the cooperation of the two countries.

The president of CRBC, Du Fei, expressed his gratitude for the trust given to the company and estimated that the project was important for the “Belt and Road” initiative.
