Ananas e-commerce, a marketplace with the seat in Serbia, has bought the 100% ownership in the North Macedonian company Vebspot from the company Payten. This way, Ananas became the owner of the online shopping brands Grouper.mk and Paopao.mk.

In the North Macedonian market, Grouper.mk is known for the business of sale of service vouchers, whereas the recently launched website Paopao.mk is a marketplace for the online purchase of products. The acquisition of Grouper as the leading ecommerce player in the North Macedonian market with nearly 300,000 users and 3,000 traders is Ananas’ first step toward a regional expansion.

This acquisition will enable Ananas a quick penetration of the North Macedonian market with the introduction of Ananas’ new concepts and innovations, it was announced.

The Ananas marketplace is part of the Delta Holding corporation with the seat in Belgrade. The first sales on this website took place in the summer of 2021, and today, Ananas offers over 150,000 various products to its purchasers, through a developed network which consists of over 200 partners.

In under a year, Ananas.rs has been visited by over a million purchasers. By launching Ananas, Delta Holding announced the ambition to create a regional giant in online commerce and the readiness to invest around EUR 100 million in that project in the first five years.

– With this acquisition, the market in North Macedonia, the purchasers, but also online sellers, are getting a reliable, loyal and long-term partner, ready to invest in the development of this business, but also the development of the whole e-commerce in North Macedonia. We have a plan to offer the biggest marketplace in this country, with a wide offer, safe and quick delivery, safe payments and many innovative solutions which we now know only in more developed markets – stated Marko Carevic, the CEO of Ananas.

At the start of their business operations, Ananas announced that the Serbian market was only the starting point and that the ambition of the shareholders and the company itself was for the marketplace to also appear in the markets in the region of the Western Balkans.

– With the reputation and the strength of Delta Holding behind us, but also with the innovative business model of not just Ananas, but also its global partners such as Boston Consulting Group, HTEC and others, we are convinced that we will bring a whole new shopping experience to purchasers in the whole region, and a reliable partner to sellers and a place where they will be able to realize their most ambitious business plans – says Marko Carevic.
