The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) has launched a new promotional campaign of the products carrying the “Cuvarkuca” watermark in seven retail chains throughout Serbia with the aim of raising the awareness of the consumers about the advantages and importance of the purchase of local products for the strengthening of the Serbian economy.

Over 150 promotional campaigns will be organized in Delhaize, Mercator, Univerexport, DIS, Vero and LIDL stores, as well as with companies-members of Domaci Trgovacki Lanac (DTL).

Zarko Malinovic, the secretary of the Association for Trade at the CCIS, has pointed out that it is important for citizens to buy products made in Serbia in local stores, because that preserves the Serbian economy, which is especially important in the conditions of the global crisis that the world is facing because of the situation in Ukraine.

– Thanks to local producers and traders, we have a well-supplied market in a very challenging moment for the whole world – said Malinovic following the visit to the PerSu Vojvodjanka market in Belgrade and added that nearly 900 local products carried the “Cuvarkuca” watermark.

By purchasing “Cuvarkuca”-tagged products, he adds, more funds are kept within the state budget, which are then invested in infrastructure, education, healthcare…

Consumers who buy three or more products with this watermark in one of the 150 stores get a cotton shopping bag, made in Serbia, for free, which, according to Malinovic, is important because it further reduces the use of plastic bags and protects the environment.

Obrad Popovic, the director of DTL, of which PerSu is a member, says that, now, more than ever, it is important to support local production and traders.

– Our basic mission is to support small producers and enable them to find their place on the shelves – Popovic pointed out and said that the 14 members of DTL had nearly 700 outlets in Serbia.

Darko Bjeloglav, founder of BB Trade, within which the local PerSu markets operate, says that they are cooperating intensively with small local producers, which he invites to apply for the “Cuvarkuca” watermark.

– The main goal is to support the local economy, because it is the local economy that creates the profit which is then distributed across the whole society – said Bjeloglav and added that PerSu markets mostly operated in Vojvodina, but that, in addition to the existing ones, another five markets of this company would open in Belgrade.
