State Secretary for Regional Development at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Dragijana Radonjic-Petrovic and Mayor of Paracin Sasa Paunovic signed a contract yesterday on construction of roads inside the industrial zone Zmic in Paracin.

The signing of the contract in the municipality of Paracin was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic.

The total contract value amounts to RSD 17.2 million, of which RSD 11.3 million was secured by the Ministry.

The works, which should be finished within next 90 days, will be carried out by Transkop Export-Import from Paracin.

Dinkic said after the signing that that industrial zone was one of the best in the Morava River basin.

- A total of RSD 38 million has so far been invested in this zone from the national budget - said the Minister and expressed the hope that, apart from domestic companies, it would also attract foreign investors.

The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that the Ministry, in association with Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), had already been seriously engaged in that field.

According to his estimate, European automotive companies that are already investing in Sumadija may start locating their factories in the Morava River basin, while one of the first new factories may be situated in the industrial zone of Zmic.

Dinkic reiterated his expectation that the modernly equipped industrial zone of Zmic would attract serious investors that can employ a large number of workers and organize the production that was primarily intended for export.

Paunovic said that, so far, more than 100 million dinars had been invested in the infrastructure of industrial zone of Zmic, half of which had been provided by that municipality and 36 million dinars by the Ministry for National Investment Plan (NIP).

- In addition to these investments, road company Putevi Srbije financed a connecting road to Zmic with about RSD 35 million - he added.

The Paracin Mayor pointed out that several companies from Paracin had already bought lots in that industrial zone and that approximately 2 ha out of total of 38 ha of available land had already been sold.

Paunovic expressed the expectation that the number of investors interested in that industrial zone would be increased in the following period.

The industrial zone of Zmic, which was visited yesterday by Dinkic, is situated close to Corridor 10, between Paracin and Cuprija.

The land in the zone, which can be rented for a period of 80 years, is intended for industrial production, retail, catering, craft and other service industries.
