Milorad Gajic, Entrepreneurs from Loznica Area, Employs Workers Fired from Other Companies During Epidemic
The loss of a job, they say, is not easy for anyone, especially those for whom the survival of their families depends on their earnings. After the state of emergency was declared, an employer from Italy was forced to let go ten workers, who were then employed by the local entrepreneur, whose company processes wood.
– At some point, the Italian employer fired us due to non-profitable operations, and we were then hired here as one family, which means a lot to us – says Selimir Miskovic from Straza.
Zivojin Djurdjevic from Jelav and his wife have three kids. The wife is unemployed.
– I get regular salaries here and they are helping me in every way – Zivojin says.
Doing business in the new circumstances, the owner says, is not easy. In order to keep the company liquid, he took out a loan. Still, he adds, at no point did he have second thoughts about giving jobs to these workers, as the satisfaction of their families is invaluable to him.
– I took ten of them in, as I couldn't allow them to be left without income. Most are my neighbors, I've been living next to them my whole life, so I wanted to use this situation to help as much as I can – Milorad Gajic emphasizes.
Solidarity and humanity, they say, can help us overcome all troubles, and this story is only of those confirming the saying that, in difficult circumstances, the biggest virtue is being a good man.
