World Bank granted loan of 200m USD to Serbia
- The World Bank granted the loan of 200m USD to Serbia yesterday (November 17, 2009) as a support to the budget for year 2009 - said Mlađan Dinkić, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia.
He said that that loan was the first result of successful negotiations with the International Monetary Fund on revision of the stand-by arrangement. The Director of the World Bank's Office in Belgrade, Simon Grey, said earlier that the loan was intended for reduction of public sector and improvement of business climate in Serbia.
- We have just started with these reforms, and the most important thing is that we keep carrying them out in order for the people in Serbia to benefit from that - said Grey.
Dinkić announced in October, after the meeting with the representatives of the World Bank in Istanbul, that that finance institution would approve total of 400m USD as an aid to the budget of Serbia in 2009 and 2010.Most Important News
