MILOSAVLJEVIĆ: "Metro" to have new facility built in Belgrade
The Minister of Trade and Services of Serbia, Slobodan
Milosavljević, said yesterday (October 21, 2009) that market chain "Metro Cash&Carry" would open another facility in Belgrade in 2010.
- They announce construction of, at least, one more facility in Belgrade in 2010, as well as construction of several facilities in Serbia's provinces, with the possibility of introduction of some other forms of stores from the "Metro" group in the market of Serbia, such as supermarkets -
Milosavljević told "Beta" agency.
Milosavljević, who participated in the business forum of Austrian and Serbian enterprises in Vienna, reminded that "Metro" had invested about 180m EUR in Serbia, and that each facility cost between 30 and 40m EUR.
He expressed belief that, depending on the size and the location selected by "Metro", the new facility would be of similar value.
He added that the representatives of "Metro" had been introduced to the possibility of sale of agrarian products from Serbia, especially fruits and vegetables, in the markets of that Austrian company.
According to the words of Milosavljević, Austria is among top trade partners of Serbia, and the value of last year's overall exchange of goods between the two countries amounted to 1.1 billion USD, while Serbia's deficit was below 100m USD.
Austria is the largest foreign investor in Serbia. It has invested about 2 billion USD in our country since 2000.
There are over 280 branch offices of Austrian companies in Serbia.
