ĐELIĆ: Government will provide money for Corridor 10 by the end of year

The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, said yesterday (September 3rd, 2009) that Serbia would provide necessary funds for Corridor 10 in 2009 and, thus, enable its undisturbed construction.

After the meeting of the Government, he said that the Government of Serbia had adopted the report on negotiations with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) about the loan of 150m EUR for construction of Corridor 10, of which granting is expected by the end of the year.

He specified that it was the money for construction of the section from Crvena Reka to Čiflik, and the section from Pirot to Dimitrovgrad, each of which required about 75m EUR.

Đelić said that he expected the Administrative Board of European Investment Bank to "grant 800m EUR for construction of Corridor 10" in October.

EBRD approved the loan of 150m EUR to Serbia on July 31st for construction of Niš-Dimitrovgrad highway section on Corridor 10. EBRD is going to finance construction of remaining 82 out of total of 90 kilometers of highway E-80 that connects Niš, the third largest city in Serbia, with Dimitrovgrad, which is on the border with Bulgaria.

Total value of construction of the highway between Niš and Dimitrovgrad on Corridor 10 is estimated at 795m EUR.
