Old Sava Bridge to be moved and linked to Omladinskih Brigada Street – New bridge at Belgrade Waterfront to open in 2021?

The Old Sava Bridge will be moved and repositioned as an extension of Omladinskih Brigada Street, between the blocks 70 and 70a, connecting New Belgrade with Ada Ciganlija. The opening of the future pedestrian zone and a new bridge which will be raised in the location of the Old Sava Bridge is planned to take place in two years, in order for it to coincide with the opening of the Belgrade Tower, the central, tallest building of the Belgrade Waterfront office-residential complex, for residents, the new Belgrade City Architect, Marko Stojcic, says for Politika.

The reinstalling of the Old Sava Bridge and the raising of a new one in its place should begin next year, and the condition is for tram traffic to be moved to the Ada Bridge once the tracks are laid down, which will be completed in June, according to the latest announcements. The removal of the Old Sava Bridge, built by the German occupation forces in 1942, should begin in summer.

– The preparation of the planning document, the technical documentation for the new bridge and the reconstruction of the old one, is in progress. It is financed by the Belgrade Waterfront company, which will handle the costs of the construction of the new bridge in the location of the Old Sava Bridge. Before it links New Belgrade and Ada Ciganlija, it will be repaired in Serbia and we don't yet know which company will get this job – Stojcic points out.
