"Ikea" in Belgrade prior to end of year 2010 – showroom to be settled alongside Belgrade-Zagreb highway
The first showroom of Swedish furniture manufacturer “Ikea” in
Belgrade may be opened at the end of the next year. The facility will be built
on a parcel near Belgrade-Zagreb highway, across the road from
"Auto-komerc", towards the cloverleaf interchange to the Belgrade
airport.
According to the words of the Mayor of Belgrade, Dragan Đilas, the activities
related to introduction of “Ikea” in Serbia are close to end.
- The changes are being introduced in the regulation and general plans because
of the infrastructure and junctions. New cloverleaf interchange will be built
in that location, as well as a shopping center next to Ikea’s showroom. If
everything goes as planned, and the whole city is doing its best to enable
that, the chances that the first “Ikea” showroom be opened in Serbia in 2009
are great – said Đilas.
The Mayor of Belgrade says that the opening of this showroom will make it possible for the citizens of Serbia to buy furniture at lower prices, while the local lumber industry will become one of Ikea’s suppliers.
