Bids for development of new bridge in Novi Sad opened
Mayor of Novi Sad, Igor Pavličić, opened the bids for the design of preliminary solution and preliminary project for development of bridge on the pillars of former bridge "Franc Jozef" on December 5th, 2008.
The Institute for Development of Novi Sad announced open competition for the design of preliminary solution for development of another bridge in the capital city of Vojvodina at the end of August.
The tender documentation was bought by 17 companies and 6 of them submitted the bids that were opened on the 5th of December.
The CEO of the Institute, Borislav Novaković, explained that the jury would estimate the bids and select the best bid within 40 days.
He added that, after that, the selected bidder would have seven months to prepare everything that was necessary for commencement of development of the bridge.
Novaković estimated that Novi Sad would get new bridge across the Danube prior to the end of year 2012.
The bridge should be built on the pillars of bridge "Franc Jozef", which was torn down during the World War II.
As Pavličić announced earlier, the idea is that the bridge has four traffic lanes and two tunnels beneath the Petrovaradin fortress.
