Six bidders took part in the tender placed by Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) for the preparation of a preliminary plan of an ecological reconstruction of the Thermal Power Plant Pljevlja, with 225 MW of installed power. After the opening of the bids for the job worth EUR 900,000 with VAT, EPCG announced that it would evaluate the bids in the period to follow.

Among the bidders is a consortium headed by Skoda Praha, with which the Government of Montenegro terminated the cooperation on the project of the construction of the second unit of TPP Pljevlja in late December 2017, after the Czech company failed to secure the financing of the project.

EPCG then opened the tender for the preparation of a preliminary plan of an ecological reconstruction of the TPP Pljevlja.

Bids were also submitted by two consortia headed by companies headquartered in Croatia – a consortium headed by Institut IGH, which includes ZarubezhEnergoProjekt and CAU – Center for Architecture and Urbanism, and the consortium Ekonerg-Nik Com-Esotech.

Among the bidders are also two German companies, Steag Energy Services Gmbh and VPC Gmbh, as well as a group consisting of the Institute for Construction of Montenegro and the Institute for Research and Project Planning in Commerce of Serbia - IIPP.

The project of ecological reconstruction of Unit I of the TPP Pljevlja is worth EUR 40 million, and the plan is for the preparation of a preliminary project to be followed by the selection of the contractor and the equipment to be installed in the period of around three years, EPCG announced.

The project, without which this big pollutant would stand to be shut down, entails the construction of desulfuring and denitrification systems, an upgrade of the electro-filtering facility, the construction of a waste water system and the reconstruction of the system of transport of combustion byproducts, as well as the construction of a heating station as part of the project of heating in the municipality of Pljevlja.
