By decision of Unmik new zip codes on Kosovo, independent of Serbia
Starting from May 31, 2005, the cities on Kosovo have new zip codes. Seremb Đerđi, spokesman of the Postal Company and Telekom Kosovo, pointed out that the zip codes were changed for the sake of acceleration of postal deliveries. New zip codes, according to Đerđi, were approved by Department for Legal Issues of UNMIK and the World Union of Postal Companies, so that they are now included in the World Database of Zip Codes.
When the mail is sent outside Kosovo, it is necessary to write "Kosovo (Unmik)" beneath the zip code and the name of the city.
Instead of former zip code 38000, Priština now has zip code 10000. New zip code for Kosovska Mitrovica is 40000, whereas Kosovo Polje’s zip code is 12000. Zip code for Prizren is 20000, for Peć - 30000, Đakovica - 50000, Gnjilane - 60000, and Uroševac - 70000.
