President of the Fiscal council, Pavle Petrovic, estimated today that Serbia would sign agreement with IMF in late February 2015.

At presentation of the estimation of Proposal of the budget of Serbia for the next year, he estimated that the budget which implies significant savings, good ground for signing and implementation of agreed line, although it has two challenges – planned headcount decrease in public sector for which there is no clear plan and trouble-shooting of public companies’ issues .

Petrovic said that, on the outside, it seems IMF will wait to see the first results with reform of public companies i.e. to solve problems of Srbijagas, Smederevo-based Zelezara and Petrohemija.

- If January and February would show convincing results, we, on the outside, think this agreement (with IMF) could be confirmed in late February – president of the Fiscal council, Pavle Petrovic, said.

November 20, in Belgrade, Serbia and IMF announced they reached agreement on a three-year precautious line totaling some billion euros. The agreement should now be confirmed by the Board of managers of the international financial institution headquartered in Washington.
